Students who are kindergarten eligible fall 2020 received worksheets in their packet to practice skills for testing. Work through the packet at your child’s pace. Plan to do 1 worksheet per day, unless your child is eager to do more. You do not need to return worksheets to us. Included in the packet are sight word activities. Knowing sight words is not a requirement for testing or to move on to kindergarten. These worksheets were included to challenge some of our students who are beginning to read.
I know many of you have questions like: When is testing, will we still have testing, and what else do we need to know.” We will still have testing. The testing process will begin this week. Each student planning to go to DC kindergarten in the fall will receive the Vineland in the mail this week. This is the social emotional piece of testing to be completed by parents. You will return the completed Vineland in the mail to Ann Skolik at Dayton Christian. A date for the second part of testing has not yet been established. We will inform you of dates as soon as we are able. As far as what else your child needs to know, take a look at the “Pre-Kindergarten Goals” sheet and remember your child has been preparing for kindergarten ever since they began preschool.
